Humpty Dumpty, Vincent Van Gogh and a penguin dressed as a tourist are among the quirky-shaped balloons that will take to the skies this weekend during the 7th Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta.
The annual festival, jointly organised by AKA Balloons Sdn Bhd and Putrajaya Corporation (PPj), will be held at Precinct 2 until this Sunday (March 15).
One highlight will be the Hot Air Balloon Flying Show that will see 17 colourful balloons manned by balloonists from 10 countries soaring across Putrajaya Lake.
There will be two shows each day – at 7am and 6pm.
Another highlight is the Night Glow event on Saturday and Sunday, where participating balloons will glow in the radiance of fire heating up to the grooves of popular music.
Those who want to get up close with the balloons can opt for launch field access tickets. These tickets are limited to 300 visitors per day per session and are available for the morning and evening sessions, as well as Night Glow.
Other activities include the Cold Inflation – where visitors get to walk inside a giant hot air balloon, MyBalloonClub premium gourmet breakfast experience, helicopter joyrides, outdoor laser tag, paintball, zorb ball, meet and greet sessions with the balloonists, as well as a bazaar offering food and drinks, clothing and knick knacks.
Event director and AKA Balloons chief executive officer Nur Izzati Khairudin said the fiesta was a homegrown event and was timed with the March school holidays to encourage families to attend.
